Ornithokayak-Ecokayak Trip Aiguamolls

This is a 3h. long kayak expedition that will take us sailing through the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park. It is designed for Nature lovers and adventure seekers. There is no requirement for previous experience; however the recommended minimum age of the participants is 15 years or older, bearing in mind that the activity is performed in double sea kayaks. They are stable and ideal for people who have no previous experience, for groups and couples.

The activity starts with warm-up exercises and explanation of kayak paddling technique. Once the dry training is over we will board the kayaks and sail from the Nautical Club of Sant Pere Pescador. We will navigate along the final stretch of the Fluvià river passing through the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Integral Reserve and we will reach the Caramany Island. We will observe and identify some of the emblematic species for the local Flora and Fauna. We will learn about the importance of the unique ecosystem of these wetlands and how it has influenced the local life. We will explain the different geological processes that occur in the final stretch of the river. The route will take us to the Platja de la Gola beach where the river meets the Mediterranean. We will have a swim, rest a little and then we will return to the Nautical Club.
